MISSION

Preserving and sharing history...every day!

Chisago County Cemetery Project

The Chisago County Historical Society (CCHS) began collaborating with volunteers in 2008 to augment an already extensive collection of Chisago County cemetery records and to make the information available to a wider audience by publishing it online.

As of March 2011, cemetery and obituary transcription data has been collected, formatted and reviewed for 39 of the 42 cemeteries in the county, and online memorial records were created for each gravestone. The final three cemeteries should be online later this year.

We are also in the process of photographing all visible markers and adding them to the online Find-A-Grave memorials. Find-A-Grave (www.findagrave.com) is a free third-party grave registration website which receives more than 5 million page views each day.

Finally, we have started working with individual churches and cemeteries to locate and review data from the original burial records and maps.

Volunteers Needed!

If you would like to volunteer on the project, we welcome your help! Contact robert.chudek@gmail.com or the Chisago County Historical Society for further information. To learn more about the Chisago County Historical Society, visit www.chisagocountyhistory.org.
